All curls are beautiful! Curls are a very popular style that you see on a daily basis! You see everyone sporting curls and may wonder how to get your pin straight hair to take a curl?

Coils, soft bouncy curls and even waves are all styles that look amazing on everyone! Naturally when wanting to curl your hair, our first instinct is to grab our hot tools. But now that it is the winter time, heat styling is a big no no, especially if you are someone that is sporting semi-permanent hair extensions! Even if you use the best hair products, you are still opened to hair damage using heat styling tools. Winter time naturally takes a toll on your hair due to harsh weather conditions. We have some tips and ways for you to still get curled styles without having to use heat in these winter months.

Here are some ways you can curl your hair without heat:

Waves using a sock bun

- Works best for people with middle to long length hair

- Do this style before going to bed, as it requires overnight drying time

1. Take a sock, cut the toe part off and roll it into a doughnut shape.

2. Wash your hair the way you usually do. Use a towel to dry your hair.

3. Put your hair into a ponytail on the top of your head.

4. Put your ponytail through the sock bun. Wrap the hair and tuck it in securely.

5. Roll the sock bun downward towards your head to include more hair. Continue rolling until you reach the top of your head.

6. Secure the bun with the help of bobby pins or clips.

7. Sleep with this bun and take it down in the morning to see the beautiful waves that you created!

Braiding for Wavy Curls

- Great for short hair

- For tighter waves/curls make more braids and for loose waves/curls make just one large braid

1. Wash your hair the way you usually do. Towel dry your hair, and leave it slightly damp.

2. Create two ponytails into your hair.

3. French braid or braid the two ponytails and secure the end of the braid with a hair tie or rubber band.

4. Let your hair dry completely.

5. Gently loosen the braids and finger through the curls to get your desired volume and style.

Twist Buns

- Works best for people with middle to long length hair

- Do this style before going to bed, as it requires overnight drying time

1. Make your hair slightly damp.

2. Brush through your hair to remover and knots or tangles.

3. Part your hair in the middle of your head. Creating two sections.

4. Twist each section tightly to form a bun and secure. Use hair ties, rubber bands, etc. to secure bun to head.

5. Let your hair completely dry overnight.

6. Remove buns softly the next day and you"ll be left with some awesome waves!

Curls using rollers

1. Get hair rollers. Sponge curlers/rollers are the most comfortable if you are going to sleep with these in you head overnight.

2. Do your regular shampoo and conditioner routine and towel dry your hair.

3. Separate a section of hair, roll it and secure the roller as per instructions given for rollers you decide to use.

4. Repeat the above step until all your hair is in rollers.

5. Leave untouched for 4-5 hours to let them completely dry.

6. Gently remove the rollers and enjoy the curls.

Pros of Heat-less Curling

1. First and foremost, you will reduce the chance of any type of damage to your hair.

2. Minimal restyling needed for curled hair. Most curled styles will last you a few days before having to restyle.

3. You get added volume in your hair with curls and waves.

4. Less hair falling out due to reduced styling.

5. Curls will always be a popular style.

Cons of Heat Styling

1. Split ends - Heat styling tools give you more split ends then usual

2. Hair Loss - Excessive heat on hair can weaken the hair and cause of breakage and increased hair loss

3. Loss of Natural Hair Sheen - Excessive heat leads to dull hair

4. Dry and Rough Hair - A lot of heat styling also leads to brittle and rough hair

When wanting to curl your hair, no heat methods will eliminate all the above cons. When wanting to sport curls, we suggest no heat hair curling methods especially in the winter time and if you are wearing our Infinitude hair extensions in your head.
